After painting the cracks on the pottery many times on canvas, I decided to incorporate natural cracks into my painting, which forms I found on the cyprus tree. These natural forms are in consonance with the cracked pots that have survived the passing of centuries, and that I recreate in a harmony of colors. I believe that the images of this ancient pottery give some anchorage to our hurried quotidian life and will bring joy and calm to your material and spiritual interior...
Before I came to the Unites States I had spent over twenty years painting my native village and its surroundings. Many of the paintings in this European gallery are inspired by the city where I grew to become an artist - Bulgaria's ancient capital, Veliko Tarnovo.
